Appearance
QuickTask
A floating compose button available on every screen that lets users quickly create action items, add meeting comments, log notes, or navigate to an inspection — without returning to the portal home first.
Overview
The QuickTask button appears as a small pencil icon fixed to the bottom-right of the screen, just above the gear icon. Hovering (desktop) or tapping once (mobile) expands it to a pill labeled Create QuickTask. Tapping the pill opens the QuickTask modal.
TIP
QuickTask is available to all signed-in users. It is not shown when no user is logged in.
Workflow
The modal is a two-step flow:
Step 1 — Choose a type
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Action Item | Creates a new action item on a project |
| Note | Opens the Notepad or creates a new note |
| Inspection | Navigates directly to an inspection portal |
| Meeting Comment | Appends a comment to a field in the active meeting event |
Step 2 — Fill in context (varies by type)
Action Item
- Pick a project from the dropdown.
- Enter a title (required) and optional description.
- Set an optional due date.
- Assign to one or more org members (defaults to yourself).
- Tap Create Action — the item appears immediately in Pending Actions.
Note
- Create new note — opens the Notepad and creates a blank note.
- Edit existing note — pick a note from the dropdown, then tap Open Note to navigate to it.
Inspection
Presents five shortcut buttons: Project, Equipment, Environmental, Wells, Sump. Tapping any one closes the modal and navigates directly to that inspection screen.
Meeting Comment
- Pick a meeting series.
- The most recent (active) event for that series is selected automatically.
- Pick a field to append to.
- Type your comment and tap Append Comment.
The comment is appended to the existing field value with a line break — it does not overwrite existing content.
INFO
The Meeting Comment type is only shown if you belong to at least one meeting series. If you have no series, it is hidden from the type selection step.
Mobile behaviour
On touch devices the pill expands on the first tap and collapses after 3 seconds of inactivity if not tapped again. A second tap (while expanded) opens the modal. On desktop, hovering over the button expands it automatically.
